Aftermarket
The engine keeps growing sideways as well as forward. When a pack drops, an ecommerce build, a new skill set, whatever it grows next, you can add it to your engine and it is yours to keep. Packs are bought one at a time, on top of your seat, and only if you want them.
Your seat is what puts them within reach and tells you when one lands. Nothing here is required to finish your build.
